Wer mehr Natur sucht, der ist in Cairns hervorragend aufgehoben. Also rauf aufs Schiff und dem tropischen Norden Australiens entgegen, Richtung Queensland. Hin zu den zahlreichen Nationalparks, erloschenen Vulkanen, Wasserfällen und Zuckerrohrfeldern. Faszinierend ist auch, das hier die einzige Region der Welt mit gleich zwei Weltkulturerben ist: Zum einen der „Wet Tropics of Queensland“, ein tropischer Regenwald, zum anderen das wohlbekannte „Great Barrier Reef“. Also nichts wie auf in den Regenwald. Vielleicht mit der mehr als 100 Jahre alten Bahn durch Gebirge und Regenwald, vorbei an zahlreichen Wasserfällen. Oder per Wald und Fluss per Amphibienfahrzeug erfahren. Mit anschließendem Stopp an der "Koala and Wildlife Sanctuary". Ein Nationalpark, der die einheimischen Tiere Australiens zu Gast hat: Egal ob Wombat, Koala oder Känguru.
