Nouméa - der Hafen, die Stadt

Nouméa, auch Numea genannt, ist die Hauptstadt des Französischen Überseegebietes Neukaledonien und damit Teil der Europäischen Union. Nouméa ist ein beliebter Urlaubs- und Badeort, der aber auch kulturell interessierten Besucher viel zu bieten hat. Eine geschichtliche Kuriosität der Insel ist ein stählerner Leuchtturm, der für Fort-de-France in Martinique bestimmt war, wegen der Namensähnlichkeit aber versehentlich nach Nouméa geliefert wurde. Dieser Leuchtturm ist bis heute auf der kleinen Insel Amédée in Betrieb, kaum 20 km vor der Küste von Nouméa.
