Der College Fjord liegt im nördlichen Teil des Prinz-William-Sund, einer Bucht im Golf von Alaska. Der Fjord besteht hauptsächlich aus fünf Gletschern, welche allesamt ins Wasser münden. Dazu kommt noch eine Vielzahl kleinerer Gletscher, die beinahe alle nach Colleges der Ostküste der Vereinigten Staaten benannt wurden, daher auch der Name College Fjord. Als der Fjord 1899 entdeckt und benannt wurde waren Professoren aus Havard und Amhurst Teil des Expeditionsteam. Als es zu der Vergabe der Namen kam, so lautet die Geschichte, erfüllte es beide mit großer Zufriedenheit die Universität Princeton bei der Namensgebung zu übergehen.
Aber was erwartet Sie denn nun eigentlich im College Fjord? Nun, wer denkt dass jeder Gletscher aussieht wie der andere, der wird eines besseren belehrt. An kaum einem Ort auf der Welt können Sie die Vielfalt der prachtvollen Gletscher besser bestaunen als in Alaska. Besonders empfehlenswert ist auf einer Route durch die Fjorde die Buchung einer Balkon, zumindest aber einer Außenkabine, da Sie so völlig ungestört die wunderschöne Natur genießen können.
Neben den landschaftlich tollen Strecken gibt es aber auch einige Tiere auf der Kreuzfahrt zu entdecken. So kommt es nicht selten vor, dass Sie einige der größten Säugetiere unserer Erde, die Wale, hautnah an sich vorbeiziehen sehen können, wobei die Chancen dafür auf den etwas kleineren Kreuzfahrtschiffen generell besser stehen.
