Inside Passage

Als Inside Passage wird eine Küstenstrecke vor Alaska sowie British Columbia bezeichnet, welche besonders in den letzten Jahren einen starken touristischen Zulauf zu verzeichnen hatte. Zu der Inside Passage gehören ca. 1000 kleinere und größeren Inseln sowie einige Städte.

Sehenswürdigkeiten

Der Höhepunkt einer jeden Kreuzfahrt durch oder entlang der Inside Passage ist der bekannte Hubbard Gletscher, welcher zu den aktivsten in ganz Alaska zählt. Viele der Routen führen in direkter Nähe an dem riesigen Gletscher vorbei und normalerweise ist das "Kalben", das Abbrechen großer Eissplitter, permanent zu beobachten. Bei schlechter Sicht hört man sogar die Geräusche oft kilometerweit.

Neben den großen Kreuzfahrtschiffen gibt es auch einige kleiner Fährrouten entlang der Iniside Passage die andere Teilstrecken befahren. Natürlich bietet diese Reisemöglichkeit nicht den von einem Kreuzfahrtschiff gewohnten Komfort.
