Charlotte Amalie/St.Thoms, ist die Hauptstadt der amerikanischen Jungferninseln. Sie liegt an der Südseite der Insel Saint Thomas. Von 1672 bis 1917 war Saint Thomas die wichtigste der drei Insel-Kolonien im ehemaligen Dänisch-Westindien, zu denen noch Saint Croix und Saint John gehören. Christoph Kolumbus entdeckte die Insel auf seiner zweiten Reise (1493) in die Neue Welt. In der Folgezeit wurden die Eingeborenen von den Europäern ausgerottet.
