Sehenswürdigkeiten
Aber
nicht nur Einkaufsmöglichkeiten warten auf den Kreuzfahrttouristen,
auch die Strände verdienen besondere Aufmerksamkeit, denn diese liegen
mit ihrem weißen, feinen Sand direkt am tiefblauen Meer und laden ein
zum Schwimmen, Tauchen, Sonnen oder einfach nur zum Genießen. Die
nahegelegenen Nationalparks lassen sich problemlos während eines
Tagesausfluges erkunden und auch das vorgelagerte Riff ist einen Besuch
wert.
Ein Highlight ist der nach dem Hurrikan 2004 wieder
aufgebaute 'Garden of the Groves, welcher mit seiner malerischen
Landschaft locker den Vergleich mit jedem Postkartenmotiv standhalten
kann. Neben der einzigartigen Vegetation gibt es auch einige Tierarten
zu bewundern und nach einem langen Spaziergang kann man sich ganz
entspannt auf die Aussichtsplatform eines der Restaurants setzten und
die zurückgelegt Strecke überblicken.
Wissenswertes
Sollte
unter den Kreuzfahrttouristen der ein oder anderen Fan der "Fluch der
Karibik"- Triologie sein; einige der Szenen wurden im Lucayan
Nationalpark gedreht und das ein oder andere lässt sich während eines
Besuches sicher wiedererkennen.
